Frequently Asked Questions about Texas Defensive Driving

Got questions about our Texas online defensive driving courses? Check out the most frequently asked questions below.

After completing the class, does it take long to receive my certificate?  And how will I receive my certificate?

It usually takes about 24 hours to process your certificate.  You can choose to have the certificate delivered by regular mail which is usually only three to five days.   If you want to pay a little extra, you can also choose overnight or premium delivery.   Certificates are processed during the workweek from Monday to Friday.  If you finish your exam in the late afternoon, the process will take place the following business day.

How do I know if I’m a candidate for “Defensive Driving 24/7” classes?

Each state has different criterion for taking defensive driving classes along with different regulations based on state agencies. Since courses can vary from state to state or court to court, there are regulations and rules about whether you are a candidate for driving education classes in the state of Texas. Once you register, our online site will give you the information about our course and the approval for your particular court.  It’s always best to check with your state or court before completing any driving safety course, so be sure to contact the state or court before you are due in court.

Is Defensive Driving 24/7 approved for an insurance discount in Texas?

Yes, the Texas Education Agency and the Texas State Board of Insurance have approved the Driver Improvement classes.   Once the course is completed, you must present a copy of your certificate to your insurance carrier.

Does it take long to complete the course?

When taking a Defensive Driving course, classes vary in different states, so if you take the course in one sitting, most defensive or driving education classes last anywhere from 4 to 6 hours. To make it easier on you, the class allows you to start and stop as often as you require.

How are specific questions chosen for the defensive driving test?

Generally speaking, questions asked on the “Defensive Driving 24/7” online site are randomly pulled from an array of questions.  The questions are developed for each specific course; however, different people may get different questions.

Must a Student Complete the Course within a Certain Time Frame?

The only requirement for completing the course is that once you have registered, the class must be completed within 180 days.  That gives you plenty of time to complete the course.  If you have not completed the course and passed within that time period, you will be terminated.  If you do not successfully complete the class, you are not eligible for a refund.

Is the Final Exam Very Long?

The length of the defensive driving final exam will vary and is usually determined by the state and county where the violation was issued.  Generally speaking, a final exam includes about 25 to 30 questions, but it could be a bit longer based on your particular court.

What happens if I don’t do well on the final exam and ultimately fail?

A lot depends on your state or regulatory agency as the agency authorizes the number of attempts allowed for taking the final exam.  More than likely, if you fail, you will have a chance to retake the final exam.

How do I know my information won’t get lost?

Once you register, all your information is automatically saved. We keep track of your progress, so you can just start where you left off.

Can you send my certificate to the court?

We generally send certificates directly to the student.  If you choose premium delivery, we can send the certificate to the court.

Can I pay for the course with any credit card?

Just about every credit card or bank debit card is accepted.  When you register, you can make a payment on our secure server as it accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.

Do you offer a refund policy?

We will offer a refund if you cancel the enrollment within 30 days of registering.  If you do not successfully complete the course, you will be terminated. Registration fees that have been paid are refundable if the course is discontinued.

Can Someone Else Take the Test for Me?

Absolutely not!  You are stating under penalty that no other person is taking the test or completing the chapters other than the person who has registered for the course.  It is a considered a felony to falsify any documents submitted, so once registering, it’s critically important that only the person that registered is taking the exam.
